Dorset HealthCare provides exciting work experience opportunities in a variety of clinical and non-clinical roles.
Some work experience placements offer a hands-on experience in a supervised environment, while others provide insights and opportunities to observe experienced staff as they carry out their work.
Work experience is a great way to find out more about a particular career or area of work, and placements can open the door to a career in healthcare – either by helping students to choose the right study path, or supporting future job applications.
Work experience can vary from ‘tasters’ which last just half a day, through to programmes that last a week.
We welcome applications for work experience from all members of the community over 14 years with a particular interest in working for the NHS. With limited places we only accept applications from those living or studying in Dorset.
Please note that, due to the nature of the services Dorset HealthCare provides, further age restrictions apply in certain areas and the appropriateness for each placement location will be carefully considered. Under 16’s will only be placed within our support/clerical services and not in patient facing areas.
Those that are currently completing AS Levels looking towards a career in Mental Health/Psychiatry/Psychology may wish to apply to our summer school, a week long introduction programme into these careers at the end of July– More info on this coming soon
We take applications all year around but we require 8 week’s notice to
set up your placement so please ensure that you apply in plenty of time and
state the future dates that you would like on the form. Due to work pressures during these months we
do not arrange placements for both
If you are successful and have provided all of the information asked for, the Work Experience Coordinator will be in touch and will try to arrange a suitable placement for you.
