The General Election may be over – but a new poll will give you the chance to represent your community over how local NHS services are provided.
Dorset HealthCare is holding elections to its Council of Governors next month. There are 14 seats up for grabs to members of the public – three representing Bournemouth, three representing Poole, and eight representing the Dorset and Rest of England constituency.
And we are looking for people who are passionate about healthcare to stand for election and help us develop services that meet the needs of the communities we serve.
Dorset HealthCare is the biggest NHS organisation in the county, with 5,500 staff running 12 community hospitals, specialist inpatient mental health units and a host of community-based services.
Elected governors represent the views of local people about those services, as well as raise concerns, inform decision making, help set Trust priorities and hold its Board of Directors to account. Governors are also ambassadors for Dorset HealthCare, promoting its work in the community.
Current Lead Governor Chris Balfe said: “We are looking for people from all walks of life. You don’t need any special experience; just enthusiasm, time and a genuine interest in the work of the Trust.”
All candidates must be aged 11 or over, live within the constituency they would represent and be a member of Dorset HealthCare. Joining the Trust as a member is free, quick and easy – just go to: www.dorsethealthcare.nhs.uk/join-us/members
All nominations must be submitted by 5pm on Monday, 3 July. For more details, including a list of all the vacant seats, and to obtain a nomination form go to https://pre.ukevote.uk/dhc
